It is popularly called as ‘The Queen of hill station’ and is one of the famous hill stations in Uttranchal Pradesh. The word Mussoorie is derivied from the name of a plant ‘Mussooris’, which is found in abundance here. The hill station of Mussoorie came into being around the 1830s. It is about 89 km from Haridwar and the salubrious climate and deep woods make it an ideal hill station. Mussoorie, at a height of around 7000 ft above the sea level, straddles a ridge in the Garhwal Himalayas, developing into a major tourism destination.
Places of Interest:
Mussoorie Lake:
This is another picnic spot which is newely developed by tht city board and Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority. One can enjoy the beautiful view of Doon Valley and and also enjoy boating here.
Tiger Falls:
This is one of the famous picnic spot which is surrounded by beautiful natscenic beauty. It is 5 km away from Chakrata and is connected by road.
The camel’s back road:
This road is named after the camel rock with a life like resemblance and can be witnessed from Mussoorie Public school. Horse ride or a wal is regarded to be a memorable experience as one can view the sunset I the Himalayas

Gun Hill:
It is the second highest peak of Mussoorie which offers a beautiful sight of the Himalayas. This hill got the name saying Gun hill as during the pre-independence time a gun was mounted on this top was used to be fired at mid-day to enable people to adust their watches.
Kempty Falls
It is just a 15 km drive from Mussoorie. It is regarded to be the longest and the beautiful waterfall here. This waterfall is located in a beautiful valley and is surrounded by the high mountains.
Municipal Gardens:
It is one of the picnic spots having beautiful gardens and artificial lake with boating facilities also.
